Te Upoko o Te Whenua Marae

Charcoal on Canvas

Te Upoko o Te Whenua Marae (Tarata Pa) sits on the banks of the Awaroa River in Tarata, about 20 kilometres from Inglewood.  It is home to Ngati Maru, Te Iwi o Maruwharanui.

These artworks were created with the permission of the Rigby Allen whanau, from photos taken over 50 years ago and held by Puke Ariki Museum, New Plymouth.

The pieces now hang in the whare kai Maruwharanui.
